At Kicks For Class, our mission is to empower children in underserved communities by providing quality footwear that promotes confidence, dignity, and educational success. We believe no child should be held back by a lack of basic necessities. Through community partnerships, educational support, donations, and volunteer support, we work to ensure every child has the shoes they need to walk into the classroom with pride and pursue their dreams without limitation.

Romaine Byrd’s commitment to Kicks For Class goes beyond founding the organization—he also personally invests in its mission as a Community Sponsor through DJ Derty Byrd.
A U.S. Army veteran who proudly served for more than 22 years, Romaine understands the importance of service, community, and giving back. Growing up in Pelham, Georgia, he experienced firsthand what it was like to go without proper shoes, an experience that later inspired the vision behind Kicks For Class.
Outside of his nonprofit work, Romaine is widely known as DJ Derty Byrd, using music and community events to bring people together. Through DJ Derty Byrd, he continues that spirit of giving by financially supporting Kicks For Class and helping the organization provide quality footwear to underserved K–12 students across Georgia.
